He then received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 2001.

After podiatry school, Dr. Riley completed three years of advanced surgical residency training in foot and ankle surgery in Los Angeles. This important hands-on training helped him build strong experience in both common and complex podiatric conditions.

Dr. Riley has special medical interests in foot and ankle trauma, reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, and diabetic limb salvage. He treats injuries such as fractures, sprains and damaged soft tissues. He also performs reconstructive procedures to improve foot structure, function, and stability. For active patients and athletes, he provides sports medicine care to support healing and safe movement. His work in diabetic limb salvage focuses on protecting feet affected by diabetes and helping reduce serious complications.

Dr. Riley is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds certification in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery, showing advanced knowledge in complex foot and ankle procedures.
